Mixing a few different types of mediums is something I enjoy doing to push the boundaries and limits to come up with unique effects.
When I paint, I mix oil and acrylic on canvas. The textures and effects I attain are beautiful and unique. The different proportions in which the mediums are mixed give a realistic look to portray my views and narrate what I see in a very unique style.
I have always mixed copper, silver, aluminum, palladium and gold into most of my glass work, whether it be in the hot shop, flame shop or in the fused shop. I have also been able to very successfully capture a pearl in my pendants in the flame shop.
Recently, under my friend, Dawn’s, tutelage and guidance I tried my hand in ‘wire-wrapping’. I loved this form of art and continue it today. “Thank you Dawn”. I had to spend some time in learning the basics and now I feel the sky is the limit. This method of combining metal and glass brings a different dimension to my passion of mixing different mediums.
I have been working on wrapping natural genuine sea glass into beautiful pendants. There are some very unique anklets which are otherwise known as ankle-bracelets. I have been experimenting with making some free formed pendants and of course some bracelets.
While working with copper I did form a beautiful ‘bird-cage wind chime’ and a ‘butterfly tear drop’. As you know, I have to always go with the flow and let nature guide me.
I am sure this strain of art will develop and there will be lots more pieces to come. Hope all of you enjoy my creations.
